Kyle and his team do a great job!
Staff and place is awesome
Love my residents who have become my extended family
Agape Nursing and Rehab in Johnson City is one of the most disturbing places I’ve ever stepped into. I had a family member here recently, and I pulled them out as fast as I possibly could — because I was genuinely scared for their safety. The things I witnessed and learned were horrifying. CNAs are vaping marijuana at the nurses’ station and sneaking off into rooms to do it while on the job. This is not just a rumor — it’s well-known within the facility and has been repeatedly reported to management. And what has been done about it? Nothing. No accountability. No action. Just silence. They allow certain staff members to show up high and care for elderly residents — and that’s exactly who was caring for my loved one. 9 times out of 10, someone under the influence is in charge of medications, hygiene, meals, and care. Meanwhile, the few staff who actually want to do their jobs right and speak up about the abuse and drug use are punished and retaliated against. Management piles impossible workloads on employees who shouldn’t be physically doing that much, while the ones vaping THC are left alone. This place is toxic, unsafe, and in my opinion, criminally negligent. I’ve already submitted a formal report to the state, and I’ve been told a full investigation and drug screening is being launched. Until major changes happen here — DO NOT risk the health or life of your loved one at this facility. I trusted them once, and I’ll never make that mistake again.
Great facility! Staff is always so nice!
This place is sub par at best. The rooms have dirty floors, walls, AC units. The furniture is VERY outdated and not accommodating to larger people. Occasionally there is a smell from human waste permeating the hallways. The staff seems nice but the facility, Administration and Business manager need replaced. constant billing issues with no responses up to a week. Please look elsewhere to take your loved ones.
My mother at 92 had been in a couple of nursing homes. Agape was the best there is. The nursing staff is absolutely amazing. The facility is very clean and you never really had oder like some facilities. My mother was in the active stage of passing and they moved her to a beautiful private room so the whole family could be comfortable and spend our last hours with her.. The compassion and love for their patients goes above and beyond. I will always grateful to Agape.
A few years back I got a phone call from the social worker there asking for my son. She wanted permission for my ex husband to be able to be cremated, when the time came, without any objection. After this, I began to think about my ex, and wondered, giving his lifestyle choices, if he even had anyone in his life who cared about him in any way. You see, he'd never met our son, who was in his late 40's by this time. And I knew my ex's 3 nephews had no idea of his whereabouts because though they'd also been estranged from us, they'd called hoping we might know how to contact their uncle a couple of years before this because they also hadn't known anything about his life in recent years. So now, I wondered, did he have anyone at all who thought about him in his old age? Anyone who even called to say hello? And of personal importance to me, anyone who cared where he was going after he met his maker? So, now knowing where he was, I started trying to call him. Each time I called, I was met with excuses. "He's laying down" was what I heard at all hours of any given day. Do they honestly just leave him laying in his bed all day, every day? I was told that yes, they actually do. Occasionally I heard, "He's eating". Only once did I manage to speak to him, and that was after literal months of trying. I find it laughable, the notations on your website, "Short-term or long-term, you'll see lifelong results.", and "Promoting independence and well being." Really? When a nurse or an aid can't even be bothered to get a patient to the phone to hear a voice that is reaching out to give them a bit of company from outside? No one can really be bothered? I'm amazed. I tried calling people who might be able to help me get through, but still got zero results. I called his nephews, but unless I miss my guess, no one has bothered to make any real contact, because that's how this family rolls. I guess he has "caregivers", and I'm sure no one is abusive, physically, but how about mentally? Even in his obvious mental decline, one, I might add, that is sadly of his own making, he still should be able to hear from someone who cares whether he lives or dies, other than those whose job it is to see to his physical needs, and apparently only as much as is absolutely necessary. To say I'm disgusted is an understatement. The people there might think they are doing a good job, but in point of fact, the job they are doing is lazy because they are doing only what they must and not caring about ever seeing to the needs of the soul and of the mind, who's needs are great. I have to wonder, when those people's times come, and they are the ones in need, will people be too much in a hurry, too lazy to bother, doing just enough to say they are fed, and clean, but leaving the mind and soul starving? I pray not. But what goes around does seem to come around... Doesn't it?
