The weekend staff and administration are horrible. I found my dad on the side of the bed on the floor, with the door closed. While the staff was in the hallway on their phone. The nurse supervisor Shelly Dillinger did not tell floor nurse that a bed alarm was needed. The next day he was over sedated and dehydrated and was sent to the VA hospital due to being aggressive (so they say) but the doctors at VA wasn't able to contact any nurses (Katie) for the reason my dad was sent. The doctor had to call me for information of why he was sent to VA. Then I go to the facility to get my dad's…

Then I go to the facility to get my dad's clothing and asked to sign the discharge papers because I'm removing him immediately, He was only there for Physical Therapy. They claim I didn't have to sign anything but in the meeting Princess Walker, the social worker(who was horrible as well) said I needed to sign him out for discharge during the orientation meeting. The staff during the week is subpar (Danielle on day shift is excellent) but the weekend nurses are horrible!!! I empathize with health care workers because I am a caregiver too, but neglecting the patients and avoiding family members calls and concerns the Dept Heads (Shelly D and Katie (the on-call nurse) and Princess Walker) should learn how to interact with family members and hold employees accountable for their actions. I would not recommend this facility, unless you want your loved one sedate and on the floor.

No nursing home is perfect. However, I am in almost every nursing facility in Memphis seeing hospice patients. I can tell you that this facility provides exceptional care to their patients. The leadership loves their patients and wants to do the right thing. If you communicate your needs to them, they try to address them. Allen Morgan is an exceptional facility.

Visiting my friend’s mom, I noticed CNAs shopping online and on their phones while my mom‘s friend was unable to even reach the food on her tray. It’s such a shame that many people who work at this place are so disinterested and intimidate their elderly, disabled patients. It reflects badly on their competent, professional coworkers who were so appreciated. It makes me sick to think of elderly people at the mercy of some marginally, employable, lazy healthcare workers. Although some of the nurses and CNAs were kind and worked hard, there were others who were just plain mean and lazy. It makes…

It makes me really sad to think that my friend‘s mom, a retired nurse, was treated the way she was. Have these employees forgotten that this could be their mother or grandmother and that they, too, will one day be old? It makes such a difference when the caretakers are kind, enthusiastic, professional, and interested. The unprofessional behavior of shopping online and scrolling through phones during the workday is absolutely ridiculous, especially for what this place charges the patients! Alan Morgan needs to make professional learning and and professional behavior a priority. Too many poorly trained and unprofessional employees will make the valuable, competent employees want to leave. Too many marginally employable people on a power trip - intimidating helpless, ill elderly patients. Kindness goes a long way. Shame on Alan Morgan.

My mom was there for rehab. It was depressing. I avoided visiting as much as possible. Getting old and feeble is horrible. Living at these places isn't like a college dorm room or apt complex for young professionals. It's no one's fault. Best bet is to die before you can't live on your own.

If you love your parents, don't send them to Allen Morgan. The independent living is great as well as assisted, but don't expect the level of care at Allen Morgan. Please look at the reviews and the same issues have been occurring year after year and administration does nothing. We decided to leave after 6 months since our issues weren't addressed. CNAs who were constantly on their phones and even sleeping. There are more assisted living facilities to chose from so why settle for less for people you love?

If you love your parents, don't send them to AM. My parents have been here for 6 months and we decided to leave after endless promises, that we knew would never change. We aren't a disgruntled family, but asking for basic care for our parents. I walked in their room one day and there were 5 dirty towels in the shower stall from the night before as well as feces that hadn't been cleaned. Its sad. CNAs who are obsessed with being on their cell phones, sleeping on the job and not having the heart to care for our loved ones. The independent living and assisted living is fine, but AM is lacking. If you check many reviews from other sites, its an ongoing issue. The leadership at AM is lacking so nothing changes.

Many of the employees seem angry and don’t want to work. Elderly people are at their mercy and intimidated. These employees seem to enjoy their power over helpless elderly people especially when patients can not have visitors due to COVID. It’s pathetic that “professional” adults are too lazy to their jobs and take out their frustrations on their powerless elderly patients in their care. It’s terrible for patients and reflects poorly on the competent, caring co-workers of these terrible “caregivers.” The goal at a rehab facility is to help get patients well. Have these “professionals” forgotten that they, too, will one day get old? That they have a moral obligation to care for people because of their chosen profession? That they may have elderly parents and grandparents?

If you choose this place for your loved one, 1st make sure you mark and take pictures of clothes, because nice ones will go missing. Be sure you have someone there on weekends because it tends to be a free for all. You never know if the CNA you have is great or... During the week it's great, although usually the residents end up in the hallway outside the dining hall most day, or sitting in the activity room, most residents would rather sit in the hal.
