I was a patient here for rehab after my heart attack a couple years ago. Good folks that took good care of me.

Very clean facility, smells wonderful, very friendly staff. The administrator is very engaged and treats the patients with dignity and respect! Impressed overall with the facility!

My mother in law was here (NHC) for a few weeks. These folks were so great and caring. The nurses and attendants were amazing. The facility was very clean and well cared for. Everyone new everyone and they were all greeted by name. I am going to mention a few names I remember and they are remembered because of how outstanding they were in caring for my mother in law. Becky manager, Kirsten intake, Ann Nurse, Ivy director of nursing wow!!! Not only did they take care of MOM - they took care of us!!! Becky manager, Kirsten intake, Ann Nurse, Ivy director of nursing wow!!! Not only did they take care of MOM - they took care of us!!! Caris Care Hospice who worked closely with NHC staff (their office is very close by) here are the people that made an impression, Megan with Caris Hospice, Mona with Caris Hospice, also with Caris Debbie, Mary, Chrissy, Beth, and Jennifer. These ladies left a deep impression on us and took WONDERFUL, EXCEPTIONAL care of our loved one (MOM).

My mother went to NHC from November 21, 2025 to December 11, 2025. Nurse Kristen McMackins and Social WorkerJodie Forsythe were friendly to work with regarding our mothers care. Staff were knowledgeable and very kind. Food and meals were fine. They cleaned rooms daily. PT was great but my mom caught a cold from one lady with a cough, or her roommate. My mom had a viral infection, high blood pressure, and other ailments at 90 years old. After 3 weeks she was able to go home, along with an ordered wheel chair. The only issue our family had was that she shared a room with a beautiful 🥰 and kind 92 year old senior who had a chronic cough, so I kept placing her trash can by her bed for her to spit into. Also, 4 patients, two per room had to share a common restroom that in need of immediate outside ventilation, and automatic fragrance dispensary.

Mother found naked in floor first week...nurse said she had 9 other patients and they are short staffed... Protect your family and don't go there

I have applied 6 times. The only reason this facility would not allow me to take the CNA classes was because I’m a guy. I applied 2 weeks before classes were to start but strangely enough I didn’t get accepted. This is the only facility close enough to me that offers the CNA classes. I think it’s really sad that the people who run this facility are discriminating against me because I’m a guy. I’m in college taking my general education classes and this fall I will be applying to the nursing program. So this facility has no legitimate reason to not accept me. I would like to hear their reasoning for not accepting me all 6 times.

As a Google Master Reviewer and Master Photographer with nearly 2 million views, I rarely post reviews that are not positive. But my recent experience at NHC Milan Rehabilitation Center compels me to share feedback that I hope will spark reflection and improvement. This is a first impression, which we all know is very important, but redemption is a possibility and I will update the post if I experience issues have been addressed and if we as a family will continue his tenure of rehabilitation at this facility. My 95-year-old father, who recently sustained a serious fall resulting in two broken arms, was admitted this week for rehabilitation. Over the past 24 hours, I’ve had the opportunity to observe the facility firsthand—both as his daughter and as someone who understands the power of public input. Here are a few areas of concern: 1. Cleanliness & Odor: Certain hallways had a persistent smell of urine. While I understand that staff can become desensitized to it, the odor suggests delays in cleaning either patients or the environment—something that directly impacts the comfort and dignity of those receiving care. 2. Some Staff Demeanor: Healthcare is demanding, and I appreciate the difficulty of working in an understaffed, high-stress setting. However, tone and temperament matter. Patients in this facility are people’s loved ones—not objects or burdens—and I believe management should re-emphasize training on patient-centered communication and compassionate care. 3. General Consideration: Loud conversations unrelated to patient care occurring in hallways at 6 a.m., socializing in outdoor smoking areas while patient call lights go unanswered, and witnessing a patient remain on the floor after a fall—all of these experiences left me uneasy about the current standard of attentiveness. There were bright spots. Lavender and Lesley were exceptional—professional, warm, and genuinely attentive. They set an example for what healthcare service should feel like. Also, I was grateful to be allowed to stay overnight with my father, which gave me peace of mind and him some comfort. This review is written not in condemnation, but in the hope that it will be received as constructive. Our elders deserve more than just care—they deserve dignity. And every visitor, regardless of title, should walk away believing that their loved one is in good hands. Update: The First 48 I wanted to provide an update to my initial review after spending more time at NHC Milan with my father. I’m happy to say that the experience has noticeably improved. Over the last 48 hours, every staff member I’ve encountered has been kind, attentive, and professional. They’ve made both my father and me feel more at ease, and their willingness to accommodate his needs has not gone unnoticed. I also had the opportunity to speak with two cousins who currently have loved ones at this facility. Both shared positive, first-hand experiences and encouraged me to trust that my dad is in good hands. Based on this continued care and these reassuring conversations, we’ve decided to stick it out here for his full recovery. I’ve adjusted my rating from 2 to 4 stars to reflect the progress we’ve seen—and I genuinely hope this level of service continues for every patient and family.

The service at Northbrook is awful. A patient answered the phone one night when I called to check on my mother and said I couldn't speak with a nurse and hung the phone up. The Nurse on the Day shift was rude. They had no Kleenex in the building. I was told the family had to provide there family members with them I will never put my love one in this place again. The condition here at Northbrook are not exceptable considering what they charge. Please don't send your love one to this place if you keep from it. They let my mother sleep in her cloths one night we had to go every day and stay until bedtime to make sure she got proper care.
