9-Jan-26 9 am 2nd floor nurse on 200 wing was one of the most ill-tempered and aggressive individuals I have encountered. It was obvious her coworkers were uncomfortable. Just an all around nasty lady.
This is the second time I've had my sister-in-law at this facility, she has been taken care of very well by everyone! ❤️ And I hope this time upon discharge that she will be in the same shape as well as she was before. Thank you so much for all that you all do for her, she said she loves it because you call her by her name and she feels important. Thank you so much! 🙏
Great care for mom. Awesome rehab department. Highly recommend 👌
*NHC Knoxville on Emerald Avenue is understaffed, especially with nurses. Nurses give medication and are otherwise inattentive; they don't seem to care about the residents, only about checking off the boxes of giving medication. *One nurse had really long fingernails and didn't wear gloves. *Proper frequency of things like changing a resident's brief is not maintained. When I arrived a few times to visit I found that my resident's brief hadn't been changed for 6-8 hours, so I brought it to their attention and insisted that it be changed immediately. *Some of the assistants are more caring; some are as inattentive as the nurses. *I was asked more than once to assist in caring for my relative, helping move the person, changing the person's brief, etc. When I refused, I was told that it would have to wait because no one else was available to help. Since the resident was of average size, it seems one properly trained person should be able to change a brief, particularly when it was only wet. *An outside advocate is needed for each resident, someone who is paying attention to the whole picture, because the staff does not pay attention. However, the staff SHOULD be paying attention to more than just their own checklist of things to do. *The care given was minimal, very disappointing, and quite disgraceful. *I would not recommend NHC Knoxville on Emerald Avenue to anyone. I can look past the dilapidated building and atrociously depressing "decor", but the incredible lack of care is inexcusable and probably even negligent.
My Grandmother Linda Borowiak died yesterday morning. She was like a mom to us grand daughters. This place took care of her for her last few months. Thank you NHC nurses and staff for everything you did for her😭 the nurse that awnsered the phone while I was panicking had so much compassion and was comforting. I’ll never heal from the pain but the comfort helped 💔😭
That is a great place I cried when I was told I had to go there and was taken and took there at about 10:30 at night and was scared to death but the staff was awesome and the scare was all gone in about 30min.the 2 Natalie's on the night shift took the scare all away so if you rehab.that is where you need to check on .you need to call them directly the hospital at tennova tries to go elsewhere
Absolutely the most amazing place! The nursing staff truly care about the residents. The residents appear happy and content. It's such a homelike, friendly environment. Come visit and see for yourself!
I was transferred to this facility right before covid hit. January 2020 for rehab on a broken hip. I stayed approximately twelve days before I felt okay to leave. Now it's three years later I have stage four COPD and am on hospice. They refused my admission saying I smoked while I was there. 1) I didn't even smoke at the time. Six months clean, not to mention I was barely able to walk, had just came from U.T. hospital for over a week from the surgery and was diagnosed with copd, used a bed pan and nurses and cnas were in my room constantly. My roommate however, her son and family would come up and smoke in our bathroom. I told staff several times. She would even beg me for my pain meds when she said her son couldn't find any. I will never forget her. Her name was Dixie. She too had a broke hip but was able to go to the rest room on her own. I left before her so I'm not sure what happened or why they are accusing me of these wrong doings. This is the closest facility to my home so my family can visit. There was nothing special about this location. It was old and run down but homey. The food was excellent and most of the staff were nice. Especially the rehab staff. Anyway my point is the location is by the old st. Mary's hospital and they have accused me of my roommates wrongdoings three years later. They even tried to get me to stay another week and I was hugged by many on my way out. This does not sound like something they would do if they thought I was breaking rules. I don't understand and they refuse to speak with me about it. I'm just looking for a place close to family to live the last few months of my life. So beware that others have been lied about and treated poorly if your considering sending a hospice patient here or even for rehab. Btw my hip never healed fully. That was a botched surgery, not the fault of nhc. It would be nice of them to contact me and let me know why they don't want me as a patient for a few months until I pass. Just a heads up and beware. Oh, one other thing that may very well be the problem. I caught 2 of my nurses trying to take my pain meds from me and give me something else. It was one at work there the first day and another who had just came back to work after taking time off. I went to the floor head nurse each time but I don't know what if anything was done. Perhaps that's what got me red flagged from there. But there is nothing wrong with my mind or memory so I remember this well. I sure wish they would be adults about this and tell me to my face what exactly the problem is.
