3.1 · 23 reviewsAmazing place for loved ones!! It will feel like home. I highly recommend
Laurel Oaks Assisted Living Home is absolutely amazing! I recently took a tour of this cozy environment, and fell in love. This property is home to approximately 12 residents, in both, private and semi-private rooms. It also houses both men and women. Residents in this setting receive home cooked meals, have activity and craft time, which is usually focused around what the residents enjoy doing, and they even have a small walking trail on the premises for keeping active and mobile. The staff is very attentive to the needs and wants of the residents, I was surprised and very impressed, while watching one of the staff using Sign Language to speak to a resident. That is something that not all Assisted Living homes provide, and that gives Laurel Oaks a leg up on the competitors. Along with arts and crafts, Laurel Oaks offers Bible study with a local lady from the area, Crocheting, Puzzles, Trivia games, and Music. Residents can participate in chair exercises to keep the body moving, or help staff with cooking or baking. No matter the interest, staff really go above and beyond to give the residents that live here an excellent quality of life, after all, that is what is most important. If the BEST is what you seek for your loved one, look no further than Laurel Oaks, I guarantee they are just what you're looking for. For more information, or to schedule a tour, give Raellen Bates a call, she will be happy to answer any and all of your questions.
My mom has owned and operated Laurel Oaks for over 35 years. She gives the best care and takes personal interest in each resident.

The overall experience was good in my opinion. But limited personal space and poor bathing facilities. [name removed] room was the private room near the front door which was nice but she complained of noise.....i don't really know. She was not happy there but i think they cared for her well. On the activities question, it's just that i personally wasn't there that much. Availability seemed adequate
Great facility with caring employees
This place is not somewhere I'd want to leave my loved one. The residents are wonderful, however, most of them express being afraid of the owner and the owners assistant. I saw a few residents treated poorly, talked to like children if they have an accident or "misbehave", and even yelled at for different reasons, none of which were acceptable reasons. The owner chain smokes inside the home even while oxygen is in use. All medications, otc as well as narcotics, are left in an unlocked cabinet that anyone could get into. I saw a long-time employee take perscription medication from a residents bottle and give it to another employee to take it for themselves! Overall, i would describe laurel oaks as poorly managed and disorganized. And the ones in charge know it too. When they are expecting someone from the state to show up, it's like a circus trying to get everything up to an acceptable standard due to all of the violations occurring in the home on a daily basis. It's a joke to say the least.
My biggest complaint was how they handled the situation as my father's health began to deteriorate. He started to decline over the weekend and passed away.. The first time they called me was about an hour before he passed away and I live 1.5 hours away. Also it was later at night and I was already asleep. I wish someone would have called me over the weekend so I could have spent some time with him in his last days.
The staff switches prescription meds with Tylenol/ibuprofen & takes there pain medication. They give them multiple benedryl at night to make them sleep. They yell at the seniors. Deprive them of snacks. Treats them like garbage
