Elk River Health and Nursing Center of Ardmore

They honestly don’t even deserve one star. We scheduled a walkthrough, toured the facility, and truly loved it. After that, we spoke with Judy in admissions about transferring my mother-in-law, and she assured us they had plenty of beds available. She then had us go through the entire process of sending over all of my mother-in-law’s paperwork so we could move her from another facility. After that, we waited and heard nothing for over a week. When we tried calling, we were repeatedly sent to voicemail or given excuses about why she wasn’t available. Eventually, we finally got someone on the phone, only to be told they couldn’t accommodate my mother-in-law and didn’t have any beds available. This was extremely confusing, considering they had availability when we toured and even after we submitted all the paperwork. We even spoke with Judy again the day after sending everything, and she said they hadn’t received it yet and told us to call back later. When we did, she said she needed to forward it to someone else. It’s frustrating and concerning that no one reached out to update us or explain what was going on. Instead, we had to chase down answers ourselves. Given the lack of communication and the sudden change in availability, it raises serious concerns. We were upfront about my mother-in-law’s disabilities from the beginning, and it’s hard not to feel like that may have influenced their decision. If it takes this long just to get a response, it makes you question how reliable they would be when it comes to caring for a loved one or communicating important information. Overall, the experience feels very unprofessional and disappointing.

The facility provided both skilled nursing and end of life care for my father. They took excellent care of my dad. The day dad arrived both the executive director and director of nursing came out of their offices and introduced themselves to the family. The nurses, CNAs, rehabilitation team the cleaning staff and etc always said hi or provided an update when the family visited. The care team monitored my dad closely and called the family with concerns and suggestions to improve care and comfort. I have worked with facilities like Elk River for 17 years and have seen very few facilities provide the quality of care and compassion to residents, as well as support to families like Elk River. I highly recommend the facility!!
